A poem that I also think is a bit twisted, but I wouldn’t go so far as to be completely disrespectful to people and trash their religion. I don’t believe in reincarnation but I’m not going to say or even think that people who do believe in it are nutjobs. The most ignorant thing you can do in this life is think that you’re 100% right about something. Mattirick, I don’t know who the fuck you are, or how you came to be following me, but I would appreciate it if you would unfollow me as soon as you get a break from posting ridiculous shit. Thanks.
First off Sierra, I was trashing my religion. I am the one who was raised Catholic. I am the one who went to Catholic schools and masses for years. So I see no problem with speaking the way I did about scripture or the Bible. Furthermore, the only religion I actually even name in the post is Southern Baptist, and if you want to defend their history - hell defend their present - be my guest.
I never once said that I hate religion or anything along those lines. I certainly did not paint with such a wide brush as to say, “I think most Christians are insane.” That is something you said. I was speaking exclusively.
I actually have no problem with most modern religions because their basic tenants are all the same - good will, honesty, peacefulness etc… I don’t care at all if it makes life easier for someone to believe that there is a better world above, or there is someone watching over them or what have you. I think it is great. If it helps you get by and be a better person, then by all means go ahead. Freedom of religion is absolutely something that is ingrained in me to my core.
I made it very clear that I was speaking about people like Judge Moore who abuse the archaic rhetoric of the Old Testament to ridicule and upset the modern day lives of normal, good hearted people. The Moore’s of the world are so hard-lined into the scripture of the Bible, that I felt it more than appropriate to show them the blaring contradictions in their logic from that exact same book. Also I decided to bring in a quick historical perspective that precludes any argument they could ever make. Practically every major sect of modern day Zoroastrianism - that means Christianity/Judaism for you dear - has acknowledged that the Old Testament books are simply “stories” with good “morals.” But they are not, I repeat not, to be taken as fact or prophesy( or do you not believe in evolution?). Those of the Jewish faith have outright omitted the problematic books from the OT, and only small extremist sects of Christianity still preach from these books. It is the New Testament with the New Covenant, the Apostles, the Disciples, the foundation of the Church, Jesus’ life, teachings, and resurrection which are to be taken as the Word of the Lord (Amen). I could go to my Parish back home and tell Father Dor that I think the OT is a made up, rabble rousing mess and he would mostly agree. (Only mostly though, I don’t think he is going to want to throw away the Ten Commandments… I only really care about 6 though. The first 4 are just God blowing his horn.)
Now since you didn’t take the time to digest the context of what I was talking about, I assume it is also safe to say you didn’t read how I describe myself or my site either. The first thing I mention, and keep posted under my name at all times on my page, is how I find humor in what others think is off limits. Religion is even one of the things I list. It is completely asinine to say that I cant joke around about my religion, because then you are saying that you cant joke about any religion. It would be pretty odd if we weren’t allowed to laugh every now and again about God or religion, when he is the one who endowed us with a sense of humor. Wouldn’t it? Anyone with a shred of sense would be able to see that “Old Testament = Nutjob beliefs = Pure fiction” is a fucking joke. Its written, and delivered exactly as one in the text. Get a sense of humor or take a remedial extrapolation from text class.
More importantly, if you don’t agree with the actual theme from my text, which is a rant on people who use religious scripture as a weapon against others, than you are either very dense, or really fucked up yourself. The people I was referring to ARE NUTJOBS, and it is solely because of their extremist religious views. I am not for one second going to let you call me ignorant for saying that about people who wave “God Hates Fags” signs or yell, “You are going to hell you whore!” at women outside Planned Parenthood. Those righteous bastards deserve much worse than to be called a “nutjob”. The only ignorance is how you picked out the least serious moment of the post, and warped it into somehow being my mission statement.
I will agree with you, however, that you shouldn’t think you are always right. But you clearly are close to never right, since that’s not even what you said. “The most ignorant thing you can do in this life is think that you’re 100% right about something.” Really? 2+2=4. You gonna tell me that I cant be 100% right about that? Hmm, the ignorance seems to be shifting. What you should have said is you cant be 100% right about everything all the time. I would have had no choice but to agree with you there. But you didn’t, and someone can sure as shit be right about something sometime. In this case it happened to be me.
Don’t worry, Ill stop following you. To be honest I never even read your page before following. I recently just added a lot of people from a friends list and kept all those who had some text, and not just pictures. Imagine my surprise when I went to your page after this and saw that missing the point isn’t just something you did with my post, but something you do daily on your page. Ill leave your tumblr world soon, but not right now. I’m not done making you have to see my “shithead” on your followed by list quite yet.
