New 30 for 30 tonight: The Band That Wouldn’t Die. Directed by Academy Award Winner Barry Levinson. The complex story of troubled owner Robert Irsay’s decision to move the Colts from Baltimore to Indianapolis. Told from the perspective of members of the Baltimore Colts Marching Band, who, despite losing their team, continued to “march” for more than a decade after that fateful bolt in the night. To say the least, it was despicable what the late Mr. Irsay did to his family, city, and fan base. But this sordid flurry of events lead to the sports love of my life being placed in Indianapolis shorty before my birth there. Few franchises have perfect pasts. But I can proudly say that the Indianapolis Colts are, without question, one of the most stable, honorable, and successful franchises in all of sports now. Not to mention 5-0.
